The Aesthetic Movement was the avant-garde's response to the social and cultural background of Victorian life including elaborate ornamentation reflected by Japanism and Gothic revival.  Dating from 1840 ñ 1920 these objects have the stylistic inventiveness to  bridge the Revival and Reform era our history.
